| The university library is in the centre of the campus in
Alexandra Square. It contains more than one million items and
currently subscribes to nearly 3,000 journals. |
| Campus facilities include a bakery, bookshop, newsagent,
hairdresser, post office, travel agent, supermarkets and banks.
There is also a range of cafés, restaurants and fast-food takeaways.
The sports centre, concert hall, studio theatre, art gallery
and the multi faith Chaplaincy Centre are all easily accessible. |
| Student Support Services co-ordinate all of the welfare facilities
on campus, such as the Nurse Unit and Disability Service, and
provide both general and specialist support to students. The
section also includes the International Student Advice Service
which provides specialist advice and guidance to international
students such as immigration and organises social events. |
| The residential Colleges are the focus of many students'
lives. Social events are organised in the Colleges by the student
committees and include quiz nights, day trips, end of year
party and sports events. |
| The Students' Union supports the Athletics Union which has
nearly 40 competitive clubs, as well as many clubs and societies
which provide opportunities to meet people with similar interests.
These include cultural, academic, leisure and religious societies,
such as the Chinese Society, cheerleading, debating, subaqua
and United Nations. |
